It’s estimated that in the southern parts of the United States, there are anywhere between 6-12 termite colonies per acre of land. Since subterranean termites live underground (thus unseen), there is a good possibility at least one termite colony is under, or very close to, any given construction site. By creating a protective barrier, your home’s risk of termite infestation is greatly reduced. Without such treatment, termites could possibly infest your home shortly after construction has been finalized.
At Titus, we offer two types of protection:
- Soil Pre-treatments
A soil pre-treat creates a termiticide barrier between your home/structure and the termite colonies that could be lurking underneath the soil. To create the barrier, termiticide is applied directly to the soil at a recommended volume and concentration. While the application is consistent and thorough, extra special attention is given to the areas deemed likely for termite entry to occur.
- Borate Treatments
Highly underutilized, Borates provide a protective barrier on termites’ food source – wood. Applied on your home’s frame and sheathing, high quality Borate products can impregnate the wood and remain there for life. Not only effective on termites, borate products control several other wood destroying insects and can help prevent wood decay.
